11th TRADITIONAL INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL "SHARK TARONALARI" TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SAMARKAND on 25 - 30 AUGUST, 2017

Since 1997, the festival "Shark Taronalari" (Melodies of the East) is held every two years in the Registan Square of Samarkand and is one of the grandiose festivals in Central Asia.

The festival program includes a competition of traditional music performers from different countries, as well as a scientific and practical conference with the participation of musicologists, composers, performers. 11th  traditional international music festival "Shark Taronalari" promises to be special - from year to year not only the number and creative level of the contestants grows, but the geography of the countries participating in the festival is expanding.

Goals and objectives of the festival: popularization, preservation and development of the achievements of national musical art, expansion of international creative ties, as well as education of the younger generation in the spirit of continuity to national traditions. The festival is held under the auspices of UNESCO and is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the National TV and Radio Company, the Variety Association "Uzbeknavo", the Union of Composers and the Khokimiyat of the Samarkand region.
